- The path from white belt to black belt involves ten belt promotion tests. Each test marks a milestone in your progress, and with dedication, you’ll advance through the ranks.

Advancing to 9th Gup (Yellow Stripe)

To reach the 9th gup (yellow stripe) level, beginners must
demonstrate proficiency in several areas:
- Stances: Learn and execute fundamental stances, such as the front stance, back stance, and horse stance.
- Stepping Kicks: Practice stepping kicks, emphasizing balance and accuracy.
- Punches and Strikes: Develop controlled hand techniques, including punches and strikes.
- Blocks: Master basic blocks for defense.
- Self-Defense Patterns: Understand and perform self-defense patterns (poomsae) relevant to your level.
- Terminology: Familiarize yourself with taekwondo terminology.
- Fitness and Flexibility Assessment: Expect evaluations in running, push-ups, sit-ups, and basic stretching.
- Effort and Improvement: Remember that this journey is about effort and growth. It’s not solely about your current skill or fitness level but rather your commitment to improvement.
